We’ve been talking about buying bedroom furniture for, oh, five years now. The dressers we have are from my husband’s childhood and basically falling apart. The headboard-less bed is a queen; he insists we need a king. (Who am I to argue?) People keep telling us it’s the one room in the house we should focus on, because it should feel like a peaceful retreat. But we decided early this year to let it go another year (or maybe two) and take a trip to Europe instead. I’ll take a few nights in a hotel in Italy over a decade in a king-sized bed at home — no contest. Peaceful retreats are for old age. (That said, the Restoration Hardware catalog came today. It’s fun to dream.)
