Despite my love of all things green (you may have noticed), I’m terrible at naming types of trees, especially in winter when they have no leaves to make them distinctive. This one grows on the banks of the creek that runs through a beautiful park in my town; a cottonwood, I think? The sunshine looked warmer than the air felt, but the dog and I made the most of a morning hike through the park and the woods. I kept hearing a ruckus and thought someone was doing construction nearby, only to realize there were woodpeckers in the trees above. Ah, peaceful nature.
